About YSR Connect
Serve with Purpose. Lead with Confidence.
Welcome to YSR Connect — a program built for military youth and their families who want to step up, serve, and lead. YSR Connect (Youth Social Responsibility) empowers students in grades 6-12 to volunteer together, grow their leadership skills, and make a real impact across San Diego County.
Through hands-on service projects, youth gain confidence, teamwork skills, and a deeper understanding of their communities. And volunteering is just the beginning — YSR also offers leadership seminars, mentorship opportunities, and youth-led podcasts that give participants a platform to share ideas, build skills, and find their voice.
In partnership with the Armed Services YMCA San Diego, YSR Connect aims to:
• Strengthen the military youth experience through leadership and personal growth
• Empower youth to take action through meaningful community service
• Provide leadership platforms including seminars and youth-led podcasts
• Build strong peer connections with like-minded youth and families
• Encourage civic engagement in the communities they call home
• Bridge the military–civilian divide through shared service and collaboration
Together, we’re helping military youth grow into confident leaders and changemakers — one act of service at a time.
